Some sort of limited guest user would be ideal i.e they can comment, add cards etc but that's it.When you upgrade your Trello Workspace to Standard or Premium you have the option to choose between a monthly or annual billing plan. I'm sure there are plenty of small businesses like us in similar situations. We're having to look for an alternative now purely due to the per user pricing essentially driving us away from becoming a paying customer which is such a shame. Switching to a paid plan would increase our costs from basically zero to, we think, well over $100 per month, which would not make sense for what amounts to a simple Kanban board. The other client boards are similar with slightly different numbers. By way of example, a client board has 2 members from our team, 6 from the client side and 1 other external freelancer. We'd like to upgrade to get access to some of the premium features however the pricing structure actively discourages us. We (pretty much the same Trello team from 2010) thought deeply about these changes, and provided a lot of workarounds - archive your boards, they are still there. I get the narrative that there is some evil "Atlassian", but it isn't accurate. (Also, it's not really pertinent to the substance of what you are saying, and I know I'm just doing this - but you can blame me, or the Trello team for any and all product decisions over the last almost 5 years (Atlassian acquired us in Jan 2017 - 4.5 years ago). We are testing (and rolling out) a plan called Standard at $5/user - just need a couple weeks to sort out the details and then we will broadcast more info. The wording should literally say on the cover "we offer special pricing to institutions with edu domains" and not "academic institutions" but just my 2c. I understand that limiting to edu domains makes the process a lot easier to manage, but it does exclude many organizations. So, we may have been denied anyway, but it didn't really address my original question. but is it possible to recognize that there are academic institutions who don't have edu accounts?) We try to be as transparent as possible and would rather invest in building products that answer people's business needs, rather than maintaining a large sales team that negotiates discounts, prices, and contracts.
